Led Zeppelin 2007 Live in London
Led Zep stars make Grohl's "greatest day"
Dave Grohl welcomed his Led Zeppelin heroes Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones on stage as Foo Fighters wound up their two Wembley shows.
And the Foos frontman told the 86,000-strong crowd that the collaboration - and the huge sell-out show - had made it the "greatest day" of his life.
The appearance of the Led Zep stars - guitarist Page and bass player Jones - came just months after the remaining members of the band had reformed for their first show in more than 20 years when they played at the O2 Arena last year.
Rumours had been circulating prior to the show that the band would be welcoming members of Zep for the second night at Wembley. And Grohl added fuel to the fire early in the show when he told the audience: "We are going to do something special tonight that we have never done before. Tonight this will be the show we are talking about for the next 20 years."
As Foo Fighters returned to the stage for their first encore during the show on Saturday night, Page and Jones joined them with Grohl announcing: "We knew from the beginning this wasn't going to be another outdoor show, we have been planning this for six months so we would like to welcome Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones onstage."
Grohl switched to drums with regular drummer Taylor Hawkins taking over vocals for the first song, Zep's Rock'N'Roll, before swapping back to their regular positions to play Ramble On.
"Welcome to the greatest day of my life," Grohl told the crowd before he closed the show with Best Of Me.
